Look Ma’ That’s Me!

I got a write up in The Buzz (for those of you that don’t know, it’s a local free publication) this week for showing my work at the Taste of Champaign this past weekend:

New Artists
Seeing artists like Rebecca Reid of Art Beco and Craig Downen of Steel Canvas really taking charge and trying to make a living at what they do was beyond cool. These artists took a gamble by putting themselves out there, and I think it paid off.

Well, Mister Matthew Strong, author of said art review column… it DID pay off. Thanks, man!

So, I’ve been really busy with getting things ready for the Taste that I’ve really let this site slack. I will update with more pictures of my pieces after this weekend. Stay tuned. Greatness will ensue!

Oldie but goodie

I completed this one a long time ago, I’m going to attempt to recreated it at least once for the sale.

Joey the Bird is having an identity crisis

This guy is nearly complete and looking way better than before. I still have a few issues to work on… but he’s about 95% done. Yay!

I figure it’s broken

…is having that “I’m Big Bird” feeling. Maybe he should try using Zest.

Ruby the bird

… loves almonds and long walks on the beach.

She’s pretty much done (and I even signed it). But I’m sure I’ll do a little bit more before the sale… I’m just like that.

I’m thinking that I’m going to price this one at least $60 (since I spent about 5-6 hours on it) but maybe $80 (if i can manage to find a nice and cheap frame, perhaps). The only reason I don’t want to charge more is because it’s on some of that canvas board crap… I’ve had it laying around for several years (because I hate it and feel like you can’t achieve anything with quality on it), probably with two different paintings on it before this one. It’s kind of warped, and that’s why I think it needs a frame. I have a few, but I’d like to be able to find two of the same frame for both birds (in case I can sell ‘em both at once).
